Company Overview

Fanzter was founded in June, 2007. Our team comes from years of media, technology and consumer products experience at companies such as Disney, ESPN, and Universal Pictures. We are well-funded by Second Avenue Partners and a group of technology angel investors. The company is currently based midway between New York City and Boston, in Collinsville, Connecticut.

Fanzter's first product, Coolspotters.com, launched in May 2008.

Aaron LaBerge - CEO & co-founder
Aaron LaBerge headshot photo

Before co-founding Fanzter, Aaron served as senior vice president, technology & product development at ESPN. He was responsible for all consumer-facing technology development for the company. As an integral leader in the creation and growth of ESPN.com, Aaron was responsible for many of the site’s most pioneering products (GameCast, ESPN Motion) and played a leading role in establishing its position as a leader in new technology. Aaron received a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of South Carolina.

Eric Kirsten - EVP & co-founder
Eric Kirsten headshot photo

Eric is a serial entrepreneur, having been a founder and director for TrueChat, Inc. (acquired by Terayon Communications), and Ames Seminars. He also served as VP, Business Development for AT&T Broadband and as an SVP, Product Management for GlobalCenter. Eric currently sits on the advisory boards of MyWaves, Inc. and Sara Happ Cosmetics. He is a graduate of Duke University and Georgetown Law School.

Jon Maddox - VP Technology & Product Development
Jon Maddox headshot photo

Jon Maddox is the VP, Technology and Product Development for Fanzter. Jon joined us following Fanzter's acquisition of Mustache, Inc., the company he founded in 2007. At Mustache, he developed a range of successful mobile applications, and assisted a variety of product development clients, including his role as co-creator of Yahoo's Search Pad application. Jon is also the author of the popular iPhone applications Summizer, Streaks, and Brackets. Jon studied Computer Science at Virginia Commonwealth University and has been developing consumer web products and platforms for over ten years.

Aaron Weyenberg - Creative Director
Aaron Weyenberg headshot photo

Aaron joined Fanzter having served most recently as Art Director at ESPN New Media, where he was instrumental in advancing ESPN.com's design standards and special projects. Prior to ESPN, Aaron brought his creative and technical sense to Colorado's top design agencies, leading interactive projects for Steamboat Ski & Resort, Spyder Active Sports, HP, and Warren Miller Films. He studied Computer Science, Engineering and Design, and holds a B.S. in Technical Communication from Michigan Tech.
