Grant - The way I&#039;ve put this together just demonstrates the mechanics of the flip. If I&#039;m reading your question correctly, you&#039;d like the flipper to know if the user has already flipped (voted) across page loads and if so, to disable it. The jQuery itself can&#039;t make that determination. The backend code would be responsible for knowing if a flip has taken place from that particular user on page load. If a vote has already happened, then add the &quot;voted&quot; class to the link so it appears dimmed:</description>
